Spotlight on Store Owner: Theresa Johnson

“Owning and buying for a fashion boutique in Newport Beach, California is a dream come true,” says buyer and owner Theresa Johnson, and this fall season’s trends feel as if they were planned with Newport in mind.  Every start to a new season reminds her of what she loves to do. Here are a few of her favorite trends.

#1- Green; From emerald green to army green there is a whole movement going on and we love it in every shade. Try a simple addition to your wardrobe by picking up a tee in Cortez from Michael Stars, army colored jeans from AG, or simply a great accessory like a classic pattered scarf! Don’t forget how elegant emerald can look when paired with other jewel tones, such as sapphire, amethyst and garnet!

#2- Back to nature; Strong focus on cozy knits, fur trimmed jackets and boots. This year it’s all about layering hues of color, for example, from java to cobblestone to sand all in one look,  and then add the perfect beanie to tie it all together!

Cozy cable knit sweater

#3- The new neutral gray; This color has become an irresistible neutral to pair with different tones, such as, slate, charcoal, and platinum gray. This is a strong color to experiment with color blocking, another fall trend this season. The best thing to remember is to have fun with it, make it your own!

Gray Gray Gray!

#4- Outerwear; Statement making manifests itself with faux fur jackets, coats, and knit bombers. They’re not only there to keep you warm but also serve as the main focus of your look. Faux fur coats are an ultimate winter staple this season, remember to consider the rest of your outfit when rocking these coats. Keep everything else simple.

Guilt Joy Jacket

#5- Street Wise; Clean with a touch of leather. Nobody does it better than Bailey44, from chic dresses with leather bodices to fitted vests with leather fronts and knit backs. The most important part of your street wise look is to keep it simple and sophisticated with an edgy touch.

Designer Spotlight: Ella Moss

Pamella Protzel Scott always loved getting dressed up and was cultivating her own unique sense of style from a young age. The Los Angeles native is the designer and creative director behind Ella Moss. It began with her friends constantly “shopping” her closet of vintage, handmade and contemporary clothes. Pamella studied graphic design after high school, recognized her true calling and quickly enrolled at the Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising in downtown LA. In 2001 she co-founded Ella Moss with Moise Emquies of Splendid. The name comes from a combination of their nicknames, Ella for Pamella and Moss for Moise. So who is the Ella Moss girl? “She’s a modern bohemian. She travels the world and falls in love easily. She listens to feel-good music and drives with the windows down. She shops at flea markets and thinks a beach vacation is the best kind of vacation. She smiles easily and laughs a lot – often at herself.”

Designer Spotlight: Blee Inara

Ivonne Kino went from stay-at-home mom to successful entrepreneur in 2000. The result is the soulful jewelry line, Blee Inara, a company motivated by her spiritual outlook on life. Blee Inara was inspired by Ivonne’s first child when her mother, who lives in Mexico, gave her an eye charm. Her baby was to wear it for protection. This tradition fascinated friends in Ivonne’s community. Before long, she started selling jewelry with eyes to her neighbors and friends, all her earnings Ivonne sent to her mother. She started I Accessories after realizing the importance for people to find meaning in the jewelry they buy for themselves and others. She designed and operated it for 8 years. Blee Inara is the result of Ivonne’s continued efforts to offer that elusive combination of beauty, comfort and design. Her jewelry is clearly inspired by a sense of harmony, bliss, goodwill and peace.

Language is all about modern romance, which is why it is a perfect fit for us! It began with the partnership of Michael Schreier (C.P.A.) and Avril Ozen (designer) and their perfect blend of financial intelligence and expertise in product development.  1995 marked the opening of Eastwest Clothing, with Language as one of their first brands. But it didn’t really begin to flourish until 2001 when the concept of “the t-shirt as a blank canvas” began. Based in a 1950′s warehouse in east Los Angeles, 90% of Language is manufactured in the U.S.A. Language has become the go-to line for the reinvented t-shirt. It’s tops are inspired by vintage finds and world travels. The Language collections tell a new story with each season of exotic locales and a relaxed lifestyle.
